History of Clinton United Presbyterian Church
Clinton United Presbyterian Church had its beginnings in Clinton, Pennsylvania in 1797 when a dedicated group of men and women formed a congregation as an Associate Presbyterian church. Three years later the first church building made of logs stood near the center of the present-day cemetery. They called their first pastor that year as well. Clinton outgrew its space and a brick building was built between 1830-1833. Our current building was dedicated in 1924 and the education wing was completed in 1957. We became part of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1983.
Clinton has had 21 pastors (Pastor Karen is 21) and has had as many as 350 members.
We are blessed with a wide diversity of ages, having a heart for young and old alike. Recently, Clinton has focused its ministry on children and families, opening a learning center, hiring 2 assistant teachers, and a Children and Youth Director that runs tween extreme for children grades 3-5 and Youth Group for grades 6-12.
Clinton United Presbyterian Church is proud of its heritage and the challenges and risks taken by congregational members of the past. We now anticipate the future together as we move forward.
Sunday Morning Worship at 11:00am
What to expect from Worship:
Our worship service is family friendly, traditional, and focuses on Jesus Christ's work in our lives and the world. Come as you are, everyone is welcome. Upon entering the double red doors, you will be greeted, given a bulletin that shows you the order of the service, and shown to a pew.
Every Sunday, Pastor Younger engages our children in a special children's time. This is a short Children's Sermon focusing on easy to learn biblical and life lessons. After the Children's sermon Children Preschool age through 2nd grade are welcome to go downstairs to the Pre-K - Elementary Sunday School room for a craft, game, and snack while the adult’s worship upstairs. All children's volunteers have up to date background checks and child safe clearances. You may pick them up downstairs at the conclusion of the service.
If you prefer your children to stay in the pews with you, we have worship bags in the back of the sanctuary. The bags are full of quiet activities and a children's worship bulletin to help the children keep busy and engaged in the act of worship.
